The lesson Joan Walker taught me…. I met this sweet lady in the fall when I shoot her son’s family. We scheduled a shoot for Dec 26th for her entire family. I received multiple emails before the Dec 26th date planning things out and I knew this shoot was very important to Joan. As a photography we worry about light… Light is the thing that drives us… We planned where we could shoot inside with good light or outside if we were lucky with good weather. As we got closer to the day I could tell by the weather map we were going to luck out and have some good weather. However, I didn’t know till the day before that Joan was not good and she had not left her apartment nor could she leave her apartment. When I got there it was so dark and the window was facing the wrong way for any good light I was so bummed for Joan. I set up some lights and we squeezed 17 people in her dining room and took some shots. As I was leaving and telling her goodbye I said …. Oh Joan I really hope these photos are okay… speaking as a photographer you know the light or situation was not the best…… she squeezed my hand and said ….. Oh Jolene, don’t you know they will be perfect…. there of my family!!! I will never forget that….. sometimes we let making something look perfect get in the way of something being perfect!!!  RIP Joan Walker, what a wonderful lady you were and I am honored I got to meet you!

I had a complete blast with Jane and her sweet family during our family session in the fall, I was stoked when she called for a Thanksgiving session to shoot her husbands family!  These photo’s are just so important.  I must say I do love how older men can start out grumpy and if handle right they just might have a little fun!   {And………    trust me this family is tons of fun!!!!}
